Chick Flicks for Dudes

BOYS LISTEN UP!
Maybe this might just change your perception on chick flicks...are not only for girls but also for dudes as well. Do listen to the recorded show taken from BFM and read on...

My morning drive home from work was a cheerful one when I was listening to "Chick Flicks for Dudes", which was the topic of the day this morning, aired by BFM's 89.9, The Business Radio Station on WTF (What The Flick) segment. I loved the topic they discussed on, especially when the two djs, Uma & Jo, brought this up for DUDES by DUDES! heheh..interesting, don't you think so?!

Ok ok, the topic was brought up in line with the upcoming comedy film, Bridesmaids that will be shown soon in Malaysia on 8 September 2011. So, according to the djs, this film will appeal to both women and men! I asssumed it will be hilarious and I'm so looking forward to it! It's been so long since I had this feeling of anticipation and excitement of watching a movie after Troy, Prince of Persia, Bond Movies and so forth...so many movies I've watched, I don't know which was my favourite. But I know, I've collected a few DVDs of my most fave films and stacked them safely at home...ORIGINAL ok! Still got a few lists more to buy actually (Practical Magic, with Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman...& Sabrina, not the witch movie but the one with Harrison Ford & Julia Ormond as the casts).

So, my point here is...if guy flicks work for girls, I'm sure there is a couple of chick flicks that appeal and amuse you guys too. So, as I mentioned and prolly you can guess, the guy flicks I like are mostly action, comedy and drama films. How about you guys, any chick flick film you like in particular? Or, you guys wanna watch Bridesmaids with me next month?! I'm on for a good laugh definitely... =D

Film Night

So, I just watched 'All ABout Steve' on Starmovies and Sandra Bullock was one of the main casts. I super love her! The movie was just ok but what captured my attention was the phrase she stated at the end of the movie...

"If you love someone, set him free; if you have to stalk him, he probably wasn't yours in the first place."

Haih...how ironic.
Go figure.

French Kiss!

Gorgeous Meg Ryan

Have I told you that I adore and love Meg Ryan?
FYI, yes, I really do.

So, yesterday while I was walking around the Rock Corner shop at the Curve, at last...I found the DVD! Yes, French Kiss DVD!!! I've been looking high and low for this film for my keeping and FINALLY, I found it! Yes, you should have seen my happy face when I saw the cursive fonts slanting, facing me which was placed neatly on the shelf. I was ecstatic! In addition to my happiness, not only it's original but it's super cheap!

Ok ok, I'm sure you guys are wondering what's with finding an old film that got me so excited. One thing about me, I love watching movies, be it going to the cinema, watching at my cousin's place or even stay home running it on DVD player. Yes, I'm a movie fan. I think I got that from my father. He walks to the cinema from home ok (which only located about 5-6 mins walk away from home?)...hehe. I would even do that and follow him. Movie fans! haha..

I started collecting original DVDs, only which I find are good films for keeping, since when I was still studying in Perth. Back then, my friends and I organize movie nights to fill our time at home. So, while browsing through the Blockbuster DVD store, I realized there were good films sold at cheap rates. So, that's when I started buying and collecting films that I've watched when I was younger that I really love. So, with these collections, I can watch repeatedly and share with the ones I'm close with in the future! =) Plus, these films can actually refresh me on what's really going on with the story lines as back then, I forget or don't really get it but I knew I enjoyed watching every second of it, especially this one!

Last scene of the film

I tell you, you will fall for this movie and laugh to yourself like I did. I can't help it but to share with you not only the static scenes of my fave scenes but also sourced from Youtube a part of the scenes from the movie. =D

And also, the ending song of the film, La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong...Perfect ending!

This is what I would call a quality comedy romantic love story! Haihh...

Film Night

Scenes from Chaos Theory

Was watching 'Chaos Theory' the other night at home & i realized there were quite a few nice shots taken in the film. My fave scene (apart from watching Reynolds in action) was the very last shot taken in the film, where the camera panned from the wedding ceremony scene to the picturesque shot. It was a brief, scenic shot of the river with a hint of tree bark, green leaves and blue sky. Love it!

Taking Chance

"Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl (Bacon), a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming" (Photo & Texts taken from Yahoo! Image).
...

I was flipping channels when i saw Kevin Bacon's name written in the synopsis of Taking Chance. I like watching Kevin Bacon in movies. His acting is superb! The movies that I've seen him in were Stir of Echoes (1999), Hollow Man (2000), Mystic River (2003) & Taking Chance (2009). Most of the films with him acting in would always be & most of the time dark, thrilling & scary. Film noir some might say. However, Taking Chance was completely a different scenario & role for him. Touching & moving. It's basically about a film showing how the military honour the war dead. I cried & i would recommend you to watch it.

MJ's This Is It ...

Click on the picture for the official website!

Like most writers/editors/film critics/journalists/bloggers, i too want to share my opinions on the real-life-entertainment documentary. It was very interesting & very entertaining! I enjoyed watching it as much as i enjoy sipping my daily cup of jasmine green tea. ;)

What i remembered clearly throughout the whole doco was firstly, the "Jam" song, which was really upbeat & the lyrics, well, you know..."Go With It, Go With It, Jam!......." the chorus really got me in tuned with the whole flow of the doco.

Next good scene was the dance rehearsal in the green room! They were trying to record the synchronization of the dance movements of few pro dancers for "They Don't Really Care About Us" music vid clip, which included the visual effects for the whole big group scene. This scene was really entertaining & gave me goosebumps watching them doing the MJ soldier moves...

Thanks to good sound systems from the doco & great booming speakers in the cinema, thus the whole music performances & singings were awesome! My legs & lips were practically moving on their own...i would have jumped up & dance if i could. But yea, cinema kan..not forgetting also the performances from the drummer, guitarists, back up singers & dancers...they were all so talented & great performers. So professional...

Talking about pros, there was this one particular guitarist, Orianthi Panagaris, (i actually managed to remember her name!!!) she was super duper brillliant with the way she strummed the strings of her guitar! That scene was definitely the BOMB!! She goreng gila as MJ said "It's time for you to shine"...(something like that) and she did go for it!! Young, talented & pretty, what a perfect package for entertainment industry such as this, plus a great resume performing with & for MJ, what more can a girl ask for eh?? I would want to be in her shoes...seriously..

Another person i wish to bring up is the back up vocalist, Judith Hill. Pretty lass with a big voice, wow...the song she sang together with MJ, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", melted everyone's heart in the cinema...

As for the late MJ, it was surreal & phenomenal seeing him on screen with the outfits & his cues on music beats to go in sync with the singings while rehearsing for the concert that was supposed to be the last memorable one. He actually gave a smile after rehearsing one of his hits during rehearsal. Lucky me to notice that during screening. It's sad to actually realize that he's already gone. However, whatever is left of him for his families & fans would definitely be his ever green famous songs & of course 'This Is It'.

I recommend you to watch it! A BIG THUMBS UP!

After the movie...

Quite disappointed as the ending ended abruptly. I wanted more of the movie. Not that i'm a fan or anything, just that i like to watch them grow with the movie. It's the 6th Harry Potter movie & so far it's entertaining to watch the 3 together, faces abit more matured and loving the accent.

The movie was very thrilling and dark. Not suitable for kids i would say, but oh well..i always love the quidditch game and the part where boys meet girls. It's solely entertaining.

I think Emma Watson is hot. =) I also think i love seeing guys in glasses. hehe...

Twilight The Verdict?

I just got to know that Robert Pattinson, who played Edward Cullen in the oh-mcdreamy-romantic-vampire-chick-flick Twilight, also acted in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory. Damn! Back then, he was also gorgeous..hehehe..*drools drools. No wonder he looks familiar.

Anyway, i've watched the film and to me it was just ok lah. The reason because i've read the novel in the first place and obviously the novel is way better and also the descriptions made me became so imaginative with the whole lovey-dovey and goose-bumps scenes.

But watching the movie also made me gripped the sides of my seat and without realizing it, i also giggled non-stop (my family told me after the movie!). I think it's because i knew what scenes would come next and thus looking forward to watch the next and the next and the next scenes of the movie! I hope you guys understand what i'm trying to say.

Eventhough the movie is not as good as the novel but whatever it is....i'm STILL GETTING THE DVD! hahaha..i love vampire movie & PLUS, i adore Kristin Stewart (Bella from Twilight). I like her acting in thriller and horror movies.

The next time a film adaptation is to be made from a novel, i'll make sure that i won't read the book first! (The thing is, i've read all the 4 books by Stephenie Meyer already!!! Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn..Arghh!!) So...the next chapter of Stephenie Meyer's series will be the film adaptation for New Moon, which will be out in 2009! I definitely can't wait for it..hehehe

Since i'm writing this, i can't help it but to share with u......this picture!!!!!
HAHAHAHA...
