Short trip to JB

I accompanied mama to JB last weekend, just to attend a wedding held on Sunday. So, we took a drive that fine Saturday morning & the best part was, i had plans in mind already that made my trip this time around worthwhile!

Jalan Dhoby
My cousin told me to check out a cafe called Roost Juice & Bar once i'm around JB & so we did. My cousin took me to the Jalan Dhoby & apparently, this area has been around for years! We parked & started walking along the lane with old, colourful blocks & buildings lined up side by side. While searching for the cafe, we accidentally saw a bread shop or rather an old bakery i would say.

Salahuddin Bakery Sdn. Bhd.

The owner on the right photo
(doesn't he look abit like Amitha Bachan, the Bollywood actor??!)

At first, i thought it was just a simple bread shop. So when i walked in, there it was...the bakers are still using furnace & coals to bake! How cool was that?! I uttered my surprise out loud & the excitement on my face was beyond excited...i wish i could see my own face at that time! Nodding his head kindly & with the owner's permission, I quickly took out my camera & started clicking.

A golden plaque can be seen hanging on the wall, an appreciation given to the owner, in which its recipes have earned a special place in the heart of the Johorians. Imagine, 3 generations...wow! The sight of the furnace was really cool! Even when i was a few feet away, i felt the heat on my face. Scary...it looked like a mini cave! The simple tin lamp hanging by its side added an extra oooooomph to the whole look. I really love it!

Juice & Bar Cafe

We found the cafe at last!
Summing up the whole cafe look, here are the photos that i managed to capture.

Waa, posing lah Danial? hehehe...

What a pose Ranya...Ranya..

Everything in the shop was decorated closely with its own unique & style. Being in the cafe brings you back to yester-years with its turquoise wall, old clocks, old tv, old fans, old ladder, 70s stools-chairs-tables-lamps-doors, victorian mirrors...ya, u figure the rest. What's also interesting was the unexpected door, leading to a boutique!

We walked in & saw mannequins clad in vintage clothes & accessories.
And so, we pushed ourselves slowly into the quirky little shop!

The story about this green vintage cashier.
I thought it doens't work anymore & while waiting for my change, ka-ching!...it was still operating finely. How fine was that?!

Being in the shop made everyone of us felt so comfortable & cool. With its white wooden floor, newspaper glued door & everything else vintage. What captured our eyes was the chandelier, constructed bit by bit with reading glasses!!! Very artistic indeed. I got a close up shot of it from below...

So...cool!

It's a dress & hair shop, so in the very corner end of the boutique we saw the hair dressing area. Relatively a small area but i spent nearly 40 mins looking around the shop, checking out piece by piece! You can expect many things from this tiny shop from accessories to notebooks! However, the price for each item differs & some can be quite pricey...& i got a pair of red studded earrings, a gold, double bangle, a notebook with camera print on both sides of the covers & a little gift for my cuz, Chelle, a pair of tie-dye leggings (i think?!), who recommended me to check the place out!

Yup, that was it. My day @ Jalan Dhoby. While walking out i managed to snap some interesting things i saw on the street.

Luv Luv
