After 16 & 17, soon...24 July!

I just got back from Penang, witnessing my brother solemnized & attended his wife's dinner reception. Simply, breathtakingly, beautiful. Soon, it will be his reception to be held at Lumut, Perak. Final discussions & preps will start tomorrow onwards & before i knew it, everything will end....soon! hehe...can't wait to relax, chill & get ourselves ready for our trip!! YAY!!!

Here's a little poem for the newly weds!

"11 years of friendship never make them apart,
Whether its sweet or tart,
Still going strong,
On & on & on..."

Congratulations Ariff & Farhah, your friendship & commitment towards each other have shown great love & patience. True love does exists. You make us all proud! Wishing you both an everlasting happiness & adventure!

Farhah, welcome to the family sister!

Love,
Kakak...

The Bday Gift...

If you do read my blog, then maybe you would remember the previous post on The Paddy Field, Seberang Perak. I took photos of my fave paddy fields & the old hut & the tree. That is my fave stress free route all the time. The reason i brought this up was because a dear friend of mine, Kech, had the patience of actually painted my photo exactly like this, as a gift!

How sweet is that?

Thank you Kech, i cannot express my excitedness when u sent me the softcopy thru hp. I recognised it immediately! Thank you...OMG!!! I still can't believe you actually did it...for me!

Taking Chance

"Based on real-life events, Lt. Col. Michael Strobl (Bacon), a volunteer military escort officer, accompanies the body of 19-year-old Marine Chance Phelps back to his hometown of Dubois, Wyoming" (Photo & Texts taken from Yahoo! Image).
...

I was flipping channels when i saw Kevin Bacon's name written in the synopsis of Taking Chance. I like watching Kevin Bacon in movies. His acting is superb! The movies that I've seen him in were Stir of Echoes (1999), Hollow Man (2000), Mystic River (2003) & Taking Chance (2009). Most of the films with him acting in would always be & most of the time dark, thrilling & scary. Film noir some might say. However, Taking Chance was completely a different scenario & role for him. Touching & moving. It's basically about a film showing how the military honour the war dead. I cried & i would recommend you to watch it.

The Bread Shop

After hearing about some freshly baked breads available in a chic bakery somewhere in Damansara Heights, i searched online to know more about it. Then The Bread Shop came about. Reading about other blogger's experiences of dining in & buying the local made goodies, tempted me to drive out & try some yummy baked dough. So i went, i saw & i bought some! =D

The look & interior was simply cool with black frames, cemented grey walls & floors as the main features of the bakery. What's even cooler was the scene behind the bread counter, silver bread trays, racks, ovens, table tops, sinks, etc...a touch of a modern kitchen look for The Bread Shop. Classic!

Of course the aroma & smell of baking breads surrounding the charming little shop, can tempt just anyone to salivate over the varieties of baked breads lined up nicely in the bread glass counter. You can expect different types of pastries and baguettes selling here. Experiencing some undecisive moments while slowly choosing which breads i want to try, finally bought 2 types pastries & a loaf of cranberries & walnut bread.

Butterscotch Banana Danish

The butterscotch banana danish was really delicious & sweet. The butterscotch sauce really complemented the banana & pastry very well. I enjoyed eating it so much that i filled my stomach up rather quickly. It's quite filling with banana and all, great for breakfast!

Chocolate Danish

As for the chocolate danish, the flakiness of the pastry layers were nice & crispy. The buttery taste of the bread was delicious too. Best to be eaten while it's warm...mmm!

Another bread that i love was the loaf of cranberries & walnuts. Superlicious! The bread texture was soft & with bits of cranberries & walnuts made the loaf sweet & tasty. That would be my fave bread from now on! (Even when it's quite pricey for a loaf of bread)

Bread lovers should drop by for breakfast one day & if you love your caffeine as much as your bread (i'm more of a tea drinker) then maybe you should order a cuppa to accompany a slice of bread! =)

Mangoes & Kg. Koh Seafood

I drove back to Perak & spent my weekend there, eating, watching WC, reading & finishing the preps for my brother's wedding that will be held in 2 weeks time. After finishing & arranging trays of 'hantaran' neatly in my room, i can now rest abit to tend my tired hands while thinking of other things to do. Apart from plucking rambutans & coconuts behind my house, we ventured out seeking for other interesting stuffs. =)

Taugeh & 'Harko'
(dunno what Harko is called in English but in Malay, udang lipan)

Asam kerapu & sizzling taufu

Oyster egg & the must have coconut!

Seafood located at Kg. Koh's long road.

Model mango di tepi jalan

Thinking it was a coconut at first, that freaking huge mango weighted about 2.2kg! hehe...i've never seen mango that big before. So abit of a hoo-haa happened at that time (which only applied to me as usual). When i was given the half diagonally cut mango, i couldn't resist but to pose for a picture. hehe... FYI, if you can just take a peek at the hanging mangoes pic with the blue & tiny red striped walls at the back across the road, that would be the VERY PLACE i officially passed my driving test! hehehe...

Here's something about SFF 2010 i picked from the website...

"About Singapore Food Festival

Since its inception, SFF has successfully profiled Singapore's diverse offerings of local and international food, positioning Singapore as the Food Capital in Asia. Check out their much interesting Program Highlights!

Imagine, Clarke Quay Food Street, Singapore Chinese Dialect Tingkat Cruise, Singapore Chinese Dialect Street Snack....

If it's not for my brother's wedding happening the same time, i would have taken a flight heading straight to Clarke Quay!!! But oh well, still, we will be in Singapore...only just A DAY after this event held??! Haih...why didn't they just extend it till end of the month? Haih...The purpose of me blogging would have achieved something yummy at least!

Oh July!

Since it's the first day of July & before i start drafting another article for work, i wish to pen down & share some thoughts today, which is so unlike me.

I love Wednesdays & the month of July!
...
Not only because i was born on the day or month itself, but also i'll always be in a state of happiness in whatever i do. Maybe it's just a semi psychological thinking but if it makes me, ME & happy, why not?

My brother's Wedding!
...
Yes, it will be 15 more days to go before he gets hitched to Farhah & im looking forward to have an additional member into the Ooi's family! Soon, i'll officially have a sister-in-law to shop-eat-walk-gossip-talk-cry-drink-do whatever together with mama, threesome some say? hahahah! woohoo! Come to think of it, Farhah is also born in July, a day after me! hahaa! July babies! Boleh celebrate together nanti kan? =P

July Movie!
...
The Twilight saga movie, Eclipse will be out next week & i hope to get those 2 free tix from KLue. Have i ever told u guys i love to participate in quizzes offered by mags & newspapers? hehee..yes, u'll see the nerdy side of me slowly creeping out. It's fun & easy! Best! =) Looking forward to watch the vamps in action. =E

The trip to Singapore!

Again, my family & sister-in-law & Sahilah will be going to Singapore for a short trip together! How cool is that? I can't wait for it since the main reason Sahilah & i planned for this trip pun to watch Broken Social Scene concert there! Yahooo!!!
